It would seem that my 156 was not happy being left on the driveway for a week in the scorching sun, whilst we went away. But it was short notice and the garage was full of junk.
So, yesterday i started her up and she fired first time, but then started to idle a little rough,
A quick blast might blow the cobwebs out i thought.
10 mins later, the battery died at a set of lights, and it was game over. -Not good.
Today with the battery charged overnight, i tried the ECU reset, but failed three times because after just 10mins of idleing she cut out.
My guess would be that the idle problem may be the MAF, but is it possible that the crank sensor could do this as well, as the cutting out after 10 mins points to that.
Another thought was that i had a new exhaust and Lamda fitted not so long ago, and this may also be giving an incorrect value to the ECU.
If so, then i'm in for an expensive service, as i already need to replace,
And now possibly the MAF and or Crank sensor.
Now, i just have to break the news to my wife and kids that summer holidays will be very local this year due to daddy's passion for a sick car.
The Alfa smile is slowly turning to a frown.
