Re: What Was Your First Car?

A 1958 Austin A35! Cost 5 from my Dad's mate. And a lot more to get it road-legal. Braking was interesting ... braking distance was dependent on how deep the rivets dug into the drums!!!

Spent a lot of Saturday's at scrap yards for parts ....

The list since is long ...

Triumph 2.5 PI Mk 1 Estate (rare and expensive when it broke)
Hillman Avenger
Ford Cortina Mk 4 (low compression 1.6 engine ....)
Rover 213 (Honda 12 valve engine)
MG Montego 2.0i
Alfa 75 TSpark Limited Edition (Start to see the light)
Jeep Cherokee 2.5 Sport

to today's 156!!

cheers, Gary

HIS: 1998 156 2.0 TSpark with Sport Pack 2, sunroof and hi-level spoiler in Alfa Rosso. V6 intake mod, clear side repeaters and Zeatek undertray.

HERS: 2009 MiTo 1.4 95bhp Turismo arrived 21st November in Techno Grey with colour-coded headlight surrounds.

Re: What Was Your First Car?

Fiat 127 1050. Broke an engine mount (twice) (one and only
trip in an AA truck) and got through the odd wheel bearing...

Fiat Cinquecento Sporting. Never broke down. Head gasket
replaced at about 30000 miles. Always amazed the engine
didn't explode! So much fun for the money... Seen recently
with 4 young ladies in it. *Knew* I sold it too soon.

Alfa 147 1.6. I'm driving it 800km across france in a
couple weeks time.

Re: What Was Your First Car?

Vauxhall Astra Mk2 1600 GL - Pretty quick......enough to hit 125 on the M62 shortly before the boys in blue clocked me (down to 104 by the time they turned on the speed gun).

Vauxhall Astra Mk3 1.4 Merit (courtesy of the company) - crap car driven into the ground!!! 10,000 miles in 6 weeks, every mile was a hard one!!!

Citroen ZX 1.9TD Aura - Cruised at 100mph all day, got about 45mpg and drove it to 190k. Looking tired for the last few thousand miles.

Alfa 156 V6 - My baby!!!!

You just lost your bet. (On the age of car that is)

Mine was a 1950 --------yes 1950 Vauxhall Velox in Black The only thing cool about it was that it ws an E-type (Vauxhall - Not Jaguar).

Lasted about 6 months until it failed its MOT not surprising because of the rust. You could put your hand through the holes in the floor and the cills

Cost 100 and 55mph was about max. Six cylinders of something over 2 litres. The indicaters were originally those little arms that came out from the gap between the doors ---useless so some one had added "flashers".
