02' Alfa 147 2.0 ts Lusso Motor Control System Failure light advice?!
I have had my alfa just over a year & it's great. It drives well & it doesn't give me any trouble really. Never failed to start or go.
This morning on the way to work, i was driving about 20 mph and braked normally & a warning light on the dash saying "motor control system failure" flashed on & stayed on (well the little orange engine symbol remains on the speedo). The car continued to drive without any differences to the ususal way though? Its driving fine, and I continued with my journey. As a test after I parked the car, I restarted it, and it started fine (warning light still on though).
Ive read a few stories on this forum & have done a few searches. Ive seen some stories of maybe a low battery/ or some mentioning an ecu reset etc, but the main cause seems to be a crank sensor renewal needed? However this seems to be on cases where the car is cutting out/ driving problems.... where as mine seems to be fine, just have an annoying light message flashing on occasionally.
I still have an annoying airbag light on from when I put a nice leather interior in the car, so would this clear with a ecu reset. I have read some stories on here about cars having there petrol tanks filled up then getting this light (I dont know why this would happen)... but any advice would be great thanks?
Any steps I could do to determine this is definately my problem? Also, I dont have a Alfa diagnosis system, and I live in North Bristol, so theres not a local specialist I know of... (apart from Batemans ? and Automeo? both with bad reviews on here).
Thanks guys much appreciated.
