156 1.8TS

Air con?

Hi, I have a 156 1.8TS (2002) with a couple of issues at the moment, one being the Radiator is on it's way out (bottom fin really rusty) I have been advised to change it before the summer (hot weather gets here).

What I would like to know do all 156's come with AIR CON as I think mine has, but I'm not sure???

It has a snowflake button (like on your freezer at home) and it does light up when you push it, but that seems to send the other buttons (demisters etc.) on and starts to blow really fast, and it changes the two round dials that you can turn up or down for heat.
(Don't know if it needs filling up if I do have it etc.)

Is there something I can look for in the engine bay that will tell me yip or neh???

Look for the aircon compressor at the front/left of the engine (and that it has a belt going to it).

A lot of 156's have refrigerant leaks, but if yours it ok you should get a clunk from it when you switch the a/c on. The middle bit of the pulley will start spinning as well.

No clunky, no cooly.

There's an under-bonnet pic of a TS engine on my greenserpent website ... showing the a/c compressor. Should have a sticker on it with R134 or something similar which is the a/c gas.

I think most UK-spec cars came with this although Alfa called it "climate control" ....
