My mums 156 had the same problem.
Button stopped working alarm going off etc.
putting the key in the ignition and turning it to mar or starting it didnt turn the alarm off, she just had to wait with the engine running until it stoppped sounding and the lights stopped flashing. Took about 15mins but then once it eventually stopped, making a din and flashing its lights, we turned it off, locked it with the key and the alarm was then dissarmed.
But it then only recognised that one key, the spare was useless (if you have it).
Play the waiting game mate, should be ok when it shuts up and stops flashing. Just dont use the button again until its fixed, not even the boot release (if its the later key).
