The smugness of my previous post was regrettable...
After a short amount of time the leak came back...
So the spanners came out - after getting it off and on closer inspection the gasket had compressed about 4mm less than the shiny new one that the dealer took 12 pounds off me for.
What an absolute pig of a job!!
Basically in order to change the innocent looking gasket:
Inner wing off, Aux belt cover off, Aux belt off, air con compressor off, air con bracket off, exhaust heat shield off, Plastic manifold pipe off (along with associated coolant pipes).
Some posts have said the exhaust manifold has to come off, it doesn't - job can be done without.
I decided to change the radiator while i was at it. I got a new shiny rad (romford radiators) for peanuts and although it took me and my father 4 hours to do the entire job the old rad didn't have any fins left so kinda was a requirement.
Also fitted this week was a new stainless front exhaust. Car sounds nice and raspy, just need to get a matching backbox now!
