Crank Sensor Fault?

hi all, been having a few problems with my 156,1.6 ts overheating, think iv'e traced it back to the waterpump today i had a mechanic out to plug her in and do a fault diagnosis because the engine management light is on,anyway it came up with 2 other faults, the crank sensor(is this do-able at home?),and an ocv fault?,the mechanic did'nt know what this was, does anybody know what this is?,thanks in advance, dave

Did he clear the faults, and did the light come back on?

If the crank sensor was duff, the car wouldn't start or run (or start and then cut out once it was warm). Maybe it was the cam sensor he was referring to?

Dunno what the OCV is either... ICV would be idle control valve...
