The problem comes getting the arm back. The ball joint has to go in first. This means the weight of the strut pulls the arm down and this stops the mountings from sitting flat on the chassis. Getting the bolts back is then a real PITA and it's easy to cross thread them. Do that and the arm goes in the nearest bin! I remember trying to use a trolley jack under the strut to push it up, but that could push the inner arm mountings out. If you have a mate it's easier ... I didn't and can remember that weekend vividly!
This way madness lies...! Fit the inner bolts first and then carefully wriggle the balljoint into position or you WILL go insane trying to line up the inner bolts because the whole thing twists as soon as the balljoint is connected.
