under motor tray (I know it's tired!)
Just got my '01 156sw 1.8ts last week. Did an oil change and taped and cable-tied what was left of the thing back in place. I can get a replacement made of PE-HD for like €50. I've read here that there are metal ones available, but none of the links were still working, and I haven't found any with other searches. We drive (very slowly) on grassy dirt trails a fair amount in the summer to get to our favorite mushrooming grounds, so the tray will get some punishment.
The PE looks like the way to go, being flexible and tear resistant. I've read that you gain ground clearance with the alloy tray (which would be good on the trails, especially when backing!), but it seems like a less attractive option overall.
What was the original made of? It seems like some kind of fibreglass. If so I suppose that would be the easiest to repair, but it tears like corrogated cardboard!
