Immobilizer failue, help needed please!!!

Hi all

I have a serious issue with my 147 i'm hoping someone can help me with..

I have had my 147 laid up for the past 12 months, last week I popped on a new battery, checked fluids and tried to start it, it fired first time no problem and sounds fine, I drove it a little and parked it up again.

Come to start today and it wont, when I turn on the ignition I get 'immobilizer failure''code''asr failure messages on the dash, the engine symbol on the dash flashes very fast in rhythm to a clicking noise coming from the throttle body, it seems to be the butterfly valve that is clicking, sometimes the immobilizer relay clicks as well... engine turns but doesn't start.

I have disconnected and reconnected all connections to the throttle body, popped out and changed the relays but with no joy, tried a different battery that reads 12.7 volts, tried shorting battery leads and leaving ignition on for around 10 mins, nothing has worked... could the ecu have blown, what else could it be..

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks for looking

Run a jump lead from the battery earth to the engine ecu body also clean the battery terminal connections.

For everyone who will run in to immobilizer failure / asr failure on Alfa Remeo 147 it may be only bad relay + burned fuse in the fuse box in the engine. I could be as simple as that....

On the highway on full throttle in 3rd gear engine stopped I got “immobilizer failure asr failure” again but this time it was not only the fuse. Car was towed to the service shop.
High pressure diesel pump failed, returned the electric short to the ECU and ECU was fried (part which controls the diesel pump).
Luckily both ECU and high pressure diesel pump were repaired and saved me a lot of money and worries.
