The story of the plasticine tensioner almost bankrupted Alfa, first issues (q145,146,156,166)
were made in Canada, release 2 were made of whitish plastic, some say nylon, but also not good, the rel 3 are made of steel, better, but still eating away the belt.
The 159 used a chain again, but to thin, again sorrow !
And for those with a million miles and no belt failure on other makes of cars,
you were lucky ! Opel/Vauxhal , citroen, peugeot and even bimmers
suffered from belt failures.
Best distri is still chain, but expensive and noisy, the very best are crown wheels
as in F1 cars... But too expensive for us mortals.
