156 2.4 Fuel Filter, What a pain in the hole!!

Just been under the bonnet this afternoon to drop the oil, and to finally replace the fuel filter.

Been on for an hour trying to do the fuel filter, how on earth do Alfa Techs replace these without spilling diesel all over?? Even draining the existing filter via the drain tap was a chore. In the end i resorted to unbolting the housing, manouvering it above the intake, and sticking a pan underneath it to catch the fuel as i unscrewed it

If you are thinking of doing one of these DIY, save some pennies and get a garage to do it unless you have an infinite amount of patience

On the plus side, i found 5 little pools of oil next to the injectors which i've cleaned up, unsure where it's come from and it's not diesel, so i can only assume it's from a leaking rocker cover gasket. I've left the engine cover off to check it daily.

Hope this helps!!
