Re: coolant tank
Chances are it is not very serious,
I know this because a friend of mine found oil in his water on his 2.0 147. The dealer stripped the head 3 times, and after reassembling the engine each time, a couple of days later there was oil in the water again. Eventually they found that the oil cooler was faulty and it was leaking oil into the water, so they replaced it and he hasn't had a problem since.
The Alfa mechanic said that he realised this was the problem when they got a memo from Fiat saying that some 2.0 147's (mostly cars manuf. between May and September 2002) may have faulty oil coolers, causing the oil to leak into the water. And this can only happen on the 2.0 models, cause they are the only ones with oil coolers.
And when he took his car for a service the other day, the mechanic said that they have had 5 147's with that problem since his car did that 5 months ago.
So don't panic, it is probably not serious.
if you have to ask, then you'll never understand.
