147 1.6 running temp, not just a stupid question, promise
right i've been reading and searching and have finally given up searching so thought i would post and ask you alfa geniuses out there...
1. alfa temp gauges suck for accuracy
2. the temp gauge is not like my audi, it is real time not average
3. i should use alfadiag to check the real value (but i don't have it)
car wars up, gets to 90 drops as thermostat opens - hunky dory - as it should
when i sit in traffic the gauge goes up to 90 - apparently as it should - but goes no higher
all good i hear you say BUT the fans never kick in, is this me being paranoid? my worry is that something is not reading the temp past 90 (even though it goes over that) and not starting the fans at 95.
what i've done:
i've tested the fans, work fine in failsafe mode when i unplug the temp sender so i don't think there is anything wrong with them.
i've changed the temp sender, same thing, sits in exactly the same place
some laterall thinking on my part:
when i sit in traffic and it reaches 90 and stays there for 30seconds/1minute if goes back down to running temp (80) quite quickly but if it sits at 90 for a long time it takes aaaages to return to running temp after moving again. this leads me to believe it is going way above 90 and then dropping at the normal rate during motion but the only registering on the gauge once it goes below 90 (but still not setting the fans off)
ok hope this all makes sense, do you think it's just me being paranoid??
