JTS Misfire - again!
Have had a good read up on the known JTS misfire issue, now from what I can find this manifests itself as a misfire showing up within AlfaDiag or another engine management program - this is not something that is happening on my car, even though it is misfiring.
Anyway the other day the old Motor Control System Failure flashed up - was doing 70 on the M5 at the time, when the car is at idle the hesitation/misfire is apparent again. So having an idea what was the cause set to it with spanner and socket set to find that two of the O rings sealing the cylinder head to the cam cover are letting oil past (from the cam cover) 1 the plug was not visible with the coil pack removed, 2 the plug was visible with about half an inch of old in the plug hole, 3 & 4 no issues what so ever.
So when the plugs came out like above 1 knackered - enamel damaged and the electrodes looked like a 90,000 mile plug, 2, same without the damaged enamel, 3&4 what you would expect from a 10,000 mile plug.
Now what I'm thinking is that cylinders 1 & 2 are running hot causing the O-rings and plugs to fail.
Anyway, have shoved a cheap set of Bosh plugs in for the moment as that was all I could get until today and initially this has made a huge improvement, but as the car gets hot in traffic the misfire is much worse than very much still there.
Has anyone else seen this before, or is the two seporate problems?
All advise gratefully received.
