Just bought a 166 2.0 - very nice etc. Couple of quick questions;
1) There seems to be a large number of flat spots when accelerating - most noticable at 4500 rpm but also at 6000 rpm. Is this a 'characteristic' or should I look into it? Obviously I've changed the plugs and the air filter but it made next to no difference.
2) The clutch needs to be on the floor to disengage fully and bites immediately that it is raised. I've bled it to no avail. With the pedal fully released there is about 30 mm of slack before anything starts to happen. Master cylinder / slave cylinder problems, or what?
3) The gear lever doesn't spring to any particular position when in the centre of the gate. I've changed the cables and it improved it a little. On the parts drawing there are some springs shown in the gearbox selector mechanism - is it likely that these are broken / missing - or is this just something silly that I've missed?
