Re: 147 bleeding - please help
Oh no, It's not the air-condition.
The R134a refrigerant is poisonous, thatís correct, but it doesnít condense as oil. What can be seen around a leak is very thin AC compressor oil, donít know the right term in English, but it's called Ester oil around here. Anyway, it'll only leave traces at the leaking spot or very close by. What you describe I have seen n many cars. Handles and ashtray release mechanisms that have been factory greased tend to dissipate a small amount of grease to the surroundings. Even the small fins in the vent openings have been greased, and come summer, come heat the grease will release a bit of oil onto the dashboard through every small recess.
My best advice is to get a damp cloth with a little dishwashing soap on it and wipe the dashboard clean. Stay away from any silicone based dash monkey shine. It looks cheap, it smells like ..... and as David says, make the dash reflect in the windscreen, very annoying.
