Warning alfas 156 what should i look out for?

hi guys, im after a little run around untill my spider back up and running, something cheap (must be a alfa) that will only travel a few miles a day (not a push brike ) anyway been to see a very cheap 156. it a 2.0l its body work has seen better days and done 120k but has not long had a service and belts done (5 months ago) that cost more than what he wants for the car! its only got to last me a few months and it taxed, the mot runs out in november but im thinking there must be somthing wrong with it or are 156 this cheap for a reason? ps when i drove it, all seem good, although it did slightly pull to the left?

anyway my question there anything major on the 156 i should be looking for except the belts?

thanks jon

Hi Jon,

Well the good thing is the belts have been done, is there a receipt for this? Any knocking over bumps? If so probably anti roll bar bushes or links very common, also check for rust underneath, does the car rattle on tick over, bit like a diesel? If so that will be the variator, any engine management lights on? If the car has a good service record and has been cared for you should be ok, how much is it being sold for and what year?

The above are just a few ideas to check, otherwise these are great cars and very reliable, as long as you look after them. Good luck and if you decide to buy, enjoy!
