GT upper wishbone change.

Just passing on my experience changing the front upper wishbone. It was apparantly an MOT failure, (although I couldn't find anything wrong with it) Dealership supplied the part for 54, this was after a 20% discount. I know shop4parts is a little cheaper but I needed it asap. Dealership parts manager smiled as he said "we keep these in stock all the time, as well as handbrake cables and heated seat switches" Ha Ha I laughed. Anyway they said they could change it 1-2 hours labour costs . I would do it my self. I looked here on the forum and there is an excellent and acurate "How to guide on this" so thank you very much for that. I followed the guide and found the job to be very simple and completed it in 1-2 hours taking my time. Don't be afraid of this job,it's easy, thanks to the AO forum.

Cooky which guide did you use? I'm thinking about doing mine and doing a bit of research.
Was it the alfaworkshop guide?

Yes I did Use this guide but there is another somewhere that is the same but with all the torque settings, sorry I can't find it.
Also in my personal opinion you should lubricate the new bushes. Search for my thread " lubricating upper wishbone bushes " you might find it useful.
Once you have changed them a few times it only take 30 mins each.

This might be the one you're talking about:

Its for the 156 but I think the GT front end is similar.. or even the same. Best check first!

All torque settings are provided

Only reason they could fail it for MOT is if the ball joint boot is damaged or, most likely, there is movement in the wheel when rocked top to bottom. If there was no movement and no boot damage then it shouldn't have failed. Of course, how much wheel movement is too much ?
