JTD cam/crank lock tools needed?
I need to replace cam/aux belt, idlers, water pump on my 20V and am planning to tackle the job over Easter. I've been reading around and it seems to me that forking out for the crank lock plate and cam locks are pretty pointless for the JTDs. I don't mind spending the money if they are useful but I really cannot see how they would help unless you have to time the engine up from scratch (ie without belts on). Is that reasonable?
I'm going to replace all idlers/tensioners except for the spring loaded aux tensioner. This was replaced 2 years ago to cure startup noise so I'm just planning on stripping it down and cleaning it up. Does that sound a reasonable thing to do?
