Temperature 100+ on thermostat reader
OK, I hope somebody can help as this has been bugging me for a while now.
I've had my 156 for about 6 months now and when I 1st got it the temperature never got over 50 unless sat in traffic in which case it would suddenly shoot up to 100 and the fan would kick in and as soon as I started driving again it would go back down around 50 again..
So, I was told it was a broken thermo and I replaced it..
Tempature hovers around 88-90 mostly but regularly goes beyond that even on open roads and hovers around the 100 mark until the fan kicks in and brings it back down to 90 ish.
This happens a number of times during a 6 mile journey weather in traffic or on open roads doing 70 odd.
I've seen numerous posts stating things like..
"Should be at 90 all the time once the engine has warmed up.
No matter what speed you are doing or how cold it is outside."
So why does mine bonce between 90 & 100 all the time? with the fan kicking in to cool it all the time?
Is this normal behaviour? Should I be worried?
I'm doing a 200 mile journey tomorrow and want to be sure.. Will more coolant help? as it's just under the min mark now.
Update.. Somebody mentioned to me there's a low speed fan and a high speed fan.. So i'm guessing my low speed fan isn't working at all.
