The hesitation/stuttering at 2K revs on light throttle was starting to get worse and drive me batty. Yesterdays purchase of MAP sensor didn't do the job, so before spending more fecking money thought sod it - I'll have a go at cleaning. I'll either kill it or cure it . . . . . .
Surprisingly straightforward really. Only 6 bolts and armed with a can of carb cleaner set to work. Cleaned and lubricated the solenoid and the spring was absolutely caked in soot, while the chambers were pretty coked up too. So good clean later and jobs a good 'un. One observation though is the lack of a decent gasket between the EGR body and inlet manifold. I can't help thinking a thick-ish gasket with a gauze inner would help matters here somewhat
. Has anyone tried this??
Started her up (a big key churning ordeal and sounded like a maracca band at first with all that carb cleaner in there) however got her going and no error messages. Result
. Took her a run and so far flat spot appears to be gone
. Have a wee journey tomorrow so we'll see how it goes and if things improve as the ECU learns that something has changed.
Next thing I would like to check is the turbo vacuum hose and actuator. Is it as straightforward and is there a how to on here as I can't find one to my knowledge. If no-one has done it and cares to tell me what to do I'll take pics and post up.
ANyone have any other snippets of advice of things worth checking??
