Sudden Misfire and Top Hose Leak 156 JTS
So far the JTS has been pretty good, apart from the usual suspension sqeaks, but now I'm up against what seems to be my first proper problem!
Car: 156 2.0 JTS facelift
After a very short journey the engine management warning came on along with a misfire, and after a quick inspection I found that water was leaking from the top radiator hose.
So I've ordered a new hose and am hoping that somehow the leak came first and the water has got into the electrics somehow (rather than head gasket failure causing the hose to break). I think I caught this early and didn't lose much coolant or get any over heating.
To identify the misfire I have pulled out the coil packs for each cylinder and it seems the guilty one is the cylinder closest to the gearbox.
First I swapped the spark plug for that cylinder to the one adjacent with no difference, and then I swapped the coil packs but the same cylinder still misfires.
I've run out of ideas for things to check before having a mechanic come out - any ideas for what I can do next?
ps -all the plug holes were bone dry
