Hydraulic Tappet... functionality
A bit of help would be appreciated. I understand how the hydraulic tappet is supose to work under both situations, valve stroke and return.
Now the tappet itself consists of the Cup, the piston and the sleeve. is the sleeve supposed to be stiff to the human touch... or not? I had to buy a replacement and the sleeve in the tappet cup was stiff, like all the other tappets in the cylinder head. Now.. i have rebuilt the head and re-assembled and it is now possible to push these down with a 3 or 4 mm reaction between the sleeve and the cup.
It would be appreciated if somone could tell me if these are suppose to be riggid to an attempt to push these down, or waht? Could it be depedant on if there is oil in the cup chambers etc>
Any help / expereinces would help.
