Re: just driven a 2.4 JTD multijet...
A Remap is just like updating the software on your computer, there is no hardware change and it is virtually undetectable. It optimises the fuel and throttle settings plus lots of other things i have no concept of. My fuel ecomony has actually improved except for those times when i just want to blast it, during these (frequent) times the fuel economy dips only by a few miles per gallon ie to a minimum of 35-40 mpg. The reliabilty side is a bit like asking whether you expect to break down today or tomorrow, I have personally not had any problems so far 3 months into the remap. There are different levels of remap and the general concensus is keep it below 200bhp but there are 2.4JTDs out there with 205-215 bhp but i think they get a bit lumpy and smokey after a while. The remap is completely reversible but that is an option i will not be taking, its a hoot!!. I got a full set of telemetary readings before and after but the proof is in the pudding and fifth gear acceleration on motorways is astonishing.
