Hmmm Closing the EGR

My question is what are the benefits of closing the EGR on 156 JTD 2.4 engine?

How is it done properly and are some ECU or turbine modifications needed to be done?
Is it affecting further normal functioning of ECU warning signals?

That shows a vacuum operated EGR valve which bears little resemblance to the system on the JTD engines. There is much better and more pertinent info than that already contained in this forum.
