Thanks. No wonder Aftermarket HIDs are illegal it is so easy to get it wrong. But as I see from Ebay, this opens the door for 800$ headlamp sets being sold. But to be fair, any type of lamp may be wrongly installed so why hate HID?
In any case, it is not enforced here but I am self-conscious about it. Are you sure the GTA really removes stray light? Would be awesome on a red car but not sure about my black one.

use a large flathead screwdriver to split the lights, just wrap and old bit of cloth around it to soften it so it won't dig into the light casing and dent it
I used 2 layers of primer, and due to the heat from the bulbs and having heard of the paint peeling after i while, i used black High Temp paint used for barbeques and stuff..
