Let us know how you get on TeamAlfa..
Okay I have been to see the GT the report is as follows,
The place is a low level car dealer / valeting business I parked up and asked to anything special as all the cars on the front were small / family cars I said I'd seen a Mercedes on their website, sorry that one's been sold I was told , anything else sporty / executive I asked the chap who was smoking said yeah follow me they arein the workshop we walked towards a large workshop / garage covered area past a BMW 5 which i can only describe as having algae and grass growing on it, the chap make a comment "she's seen better days" your not kidding! anyway into a shed full of cars we went and there she was our GT, i made out I was interested in a BMW 645i just behind her then said what's that car "it's an Alfa GT mate" 3 owners and 25k miles. I asked for a closer look at both BMW & GT (the BMW interest was to make sure they didn't link me to the calls they had received recently including my own one!)
Okay the outside first I had a good look when he went away, the paint did look like it hadn't been cared for and it is in dire need of a good clean, it did have some bird muck on it and also certain panels looked different, however it was so difficult to see as the light was pretty bad, things like the front spoiler looked either very dirty or hand painted. The wheels were well chewed up kerbing i guess (nice wheels though).
The inside he didn't let me have the keys but opened the car remotely I took a seat inside, the smell was not too offensive no sign of the fir trees! it certainly didn't smell fresh either. Their were no visible ribs or wear to the leather or interior switch gear, however I have sat in a lot of cars over the years and know an interior which has seen some action! I dont mean that kind of action but fair wear and tear, it looked a little shiny in places I didnt think to take a photo either but didnt smell or look like 25k miles if you know what i mean.
Sorry I didn't open the bonnet to look at the VIN no etc, my conclusion is if I needed a GT for pennies then this is the one, I reckon they will reduce the price even further if pushed, only buy on the proviso you get an HPI on it and get it checked mechanically I would proceed, as everything else mentioned can be fixed wheels refurbished, might need new brakes disks/ pads, a respray if it really is that bad I couldn't tell! deep clean the interior leather, oh and cam belt change etc and you have a GT. Oh it may be easier to buy a £6/7 one on AutoTrader! because that's what this will cost you.
For anyone really interested the registration number is in the below pictures anyone on here able to get a HPI check done calling all dealers & traders! that is the only way we will know if it's had an accident etc. I didn't want to ask these guys too many questions and I did ask for a card and was given the flyer in the piccy below once I saw the name I just had to scarper PDQ! Anyway hope this helps anyone who is interested
