It died. Dead. It is an ex JTD. It has shuffled off this mortal coil and joined the choir eternal.
No, not quite that bad, but it feels like I've lost a limb. Engine simply cut out on the A34 on Monday morning, leaving me stranded with no hard shoulder to pull on to. Everything went zip, zilch, nada.
Managed to coast on to a slip road and tried to restart but the injector light styed lit and the car wouldn't start. Had to call out the rescue bods. When they got there (about 30 minutes) they gave it a go and it started first time.
Since then it has broken down after another 60 miles, then got me a further 8 miles, 5 miles, 3 miles, 2 miles and oooh, about 750 yards. Each time if you leave it 20 minutes or so it restarts.
AlfaNige suggested it may be a fault with an injector causing fuel to sit on the manifold. That would certainly explain why the fault vanishes after a while, as any fuel-fouling would drain away.
Spent half of this morning stood at the side of the road in a hi-viz coat watching trucks hurtle past my clearly lit, warning triangled and generally very easy to see Bella whilst waiting for the garage to come and rescue me. It's sat there now being prodded by various technicians.
Meanwhile I'm driving a Brava JTD.
