TS vs JTD Reliability

I currently have a 2000 156 1.8 TS which I've owned for 4 years and apart from the usual 156 problems (anti-roll bar, wishbones etc.) it has been very reliable. The only issues I've ever had with the engine have been the thermostat and crank sensor. I'm currently considering buying a 2005 156 1.9 JTD Multijet.

How reliable are the later 156's compared to the early ones?

How do the JTD engines compare to the TS in terms of reliability?

Everyone I've spoken to regarding this says that the diesel engines are a lot more reliable than the petrol. My 156 1.9jtd did 160,000 miles with no problems whatsoever, never broke down once.
