156 2.5 V6, W reg 89k miles - Sell or Repair?

Hi all,

I've got a W reg, black, 156 2.5 V6.

I slid in some ice a couple of months ago and have caused some damage. There is a clunk when I turn hard right. I've had the car looked at and the repair bill was supposedly more than £1000 - but I can't really be sure.

I'm thinking of selling the car and wondered whether I am better off repairing it, keeping it in the garage and selling parts, selling it to someone who wants parts... I think I can get around £550 if I trade it in at a dealer.

Any advice? Anyone interested?

Are you sure you can get that kind of money? Sounds a lot to me for a car with damage. Unless its got leather and nice alloys you'd be lucky to get much that breaking it as well.

How long have you had the car? coz you dont seem to have captured the magic of the v6 156!! truly a wonderfull "drivers car" if you can afford it REPAIR, there are several used part specialists around ALFALUSSO springs to mind and if you are a little handy with a spanner labour is taken out of the costings. and i think your estimate of value as a damaged car is probably a little optomistic, breaking for parts is a time consuming option and you will still be left with a wreck you have to dispose of and most breakers wont touch it as you have sold all the best bits so you will probably have to pay to get it removed. so keep it repair it and enjoy a totally special and exiting drive. good luck anyway regards Eric

The best starting point will be to establish what it needs. If it's bolt on suspension parts then it should be a fairly cheap fix. However if it's something link a bent chassis rail it probably isn't worth the bother.
