MOT and other Twinnie issues!
So the 147 had it's MOT recently and there are some issues that need looking at before its next MOT. So I wanted to post on here what they are and ask how best I go about fixing them!
- Nearside front upper suspension arm has slight play in a ball joint
- Nearside front lower suspension arm has slight play in a ball joint
- Offside front upper suspension arm has slight play in a ball joint
Now, can all of the above be fixed by new suspension arm's?
Also would the above account for some creaky suspension noises i've been getting?
Finally, would the above account for:
- Both front tyre inner edges scrubbed
The tyres are legal as there is good tread across 75% of the surface, but the inner edges are gone.
Last thing I wanted to ask, I have noticed on occasions that my 2.0 twinnie has started making a ticking noise, which increases with more rev's. It happened alot today, however I have many days where the engine doesnt make the noise. Is it possible for a variator to go quickly? My car had its big belt change in May of last year, and at the same time I had the garage (HRG - Sandbach) replace the variator and water pump.
Now, I am looking at switching to a diesel in the next few months so do you think I should get all the above looked at before part ex'ing her? Or, as she is driveable and legal should I not both as i'd be spending money im only going to loose?
Thanks in advance everyone!
