Well, just had the service done, by Desira in Hertford. Banging from the rear end on bends, strange farty noises from the engine when revving 2-3000RPM, the odd occasional 'funny' from the Selespeed system and wondering what the outcome of the cambelt inspection would be.
Farty noise wasn't the cambelt about to snap (which led me to take it in 500miles early). Was the heatshield with a crack in, also a nearby exhaust bracket at the front end. Not covered on warranty but they 'absorbed' some of the labour charge
They replaced both rear suspension arms (long ones from outside to inside) on account of the bushes being f*cked. That solved the banging.
Had a 'flash' done on the Selespeed (is that a full remap?), too early to tell if improved.
Cambelt, balancer shaft belt and both tensioners changed...RESULT!
Dunno how far gone they were. I got the impression this was always on the agenda. If they passed them and the engine blew up 5000 miles later, I wouldn't have been too pleased!
They also fitted new front discs and pads (I supplied, the Ferodo 2500, still bedding in) for a modest fee.
All this stuff was done under warranty. My car is an import, bought via TradeSales in Slough. I had the foresight to spend £289 on a pukka Alfa 3rd yr warranty though...thank God!
Still not all that happy with the suspension though (from new). Who was that guy on here who was fitting the Rhoddy Harvey-Bailey kit to a SP3 156 2.0L? He was gonna report back with his findings. I am seriously thinking about what to do in this respect.
