156 balance shaft tensioner modified??

Hi all, anybody know of a modified version of the tensioner for the balance shafts on a 2.0L twin spark? mine developed a rattle at idle so stripped said item and sure enough about 3mm of play between eccentric bolt and the pulley.(looked at prievious posts and seems risk of smaller belt hopping off taking the cam belt with it,so being ultra cautious here)
I did the cam belt, water pump, and all pulleys about 33k ago and have just replaced the variator about 1500miles ago,
All has been well except for this rattle, which developed a few days ago, It seems to come from the idler pulley, I eliminated the aux belt and alternater etc by taking off the belt and briefly running the engine.
Local dealer here has just phoned me back to say there is a factory modification to this part? and he is ordering one for me.
The car is an early 2000 model selespeed , any info or ideas greatly recieved
