156 clutch change - a plea
All being well I'm going to drop the gearbox out of my car next weekend to sort my dodgy release bearing. I've done this kind of thing before but on older cars where it was a simpler proposition. I'm not looking for manual labour (though if anyone wants to offer......). But I wouldn't mind a few pointers on specific issues. These are:
1. How do I get the gear linkage off?
2. What do I need to remove on the suspension front?
3. Driveshafts. Do I unbolt at the CV joints or slide them out of the gearbox?
4. Subframe. I've seen posts which say it doesn't need to come off and posts which say it does. Can anyone be specific about what I need to do with it?
I took a few snaps earlier for reference so hopefulyy people can say "Remove that bit" "That bit's a *******" etc. Any and all inputs gratefully received.
In return for everyone's inputs, I will do a detailed write-up of the job, complete with pictures for reference whenever anyone asks the question again. I write technical material for a living (though admittedly not about cars) and stuff I've done before like this has been well received so hopefully I'll be able to do something useful.
Thanks in advance
