Original headlamp units - 147 (don't know if it applies to the later facelift) have offset bayonet pins if I remember right from 18 months ago. So possibly the bulb was not fully locked in place?
To get the bulb out I would probably try blue-tac on the end of slim piece of dowel/wood or small paint brush handle etc.
Looking from the front with your fingers holding the tab moving it into place, working from the back worked OK for me to position the bulb and holder.
(Obviously clean/wipe the bulb carefully before reassembly - sometimes there is a warning not to touch the glass).
