So I was about a mile from the petrol station yesterday, with the fuel guage needle a good 3-4mm away from vertical bottom. I crested a hill and as I did, it coughed and spluttered, then as I coasted down the other side of the hill I thought I'd better stop (it was a busy road, no room for passing) so I pulled into a junction. As I stopped, it spluttered and died!
The next hour of fun was spent waiting for a family member to rescue me with more fuel. Highly embaressing! Had to push the car down this single track lane to a passing point, and OH MY GOD how heavy is the steering without the engine running?!?!
So, moral of the story... when it says 'Range limited', it ain't kidding!!
Hopefully the fuel lines and filter will be ok, don't fancy having to get them drained
I've driven mine till it was smacked at 6 o' clock and it was still going - no problemo, whether uphill or downhill. Better give those fuel pump and lines a check.
When mine tells me Range Limited - I know that there's another 80km left of fuel left. Cause I've brought her usually to approx. 730km on a full tank - and she wasn't spurting or dying when I pulled into a pump.
No, I'm sure its a 120hp 1.6TS manual. I live close to the freeway and rarely get caught in stop and go jams. I've never had anything less than 690km on a full tank. The trick is to go easy on throttle when warming up - then shift or maintain at 4k rpm throughout the drive, even though it may seem like dragging the gears.
For town driving, mainly short trips, I get about 600km per tank. On a long distance drive its more like 700km ++. I thought when range limited comes on it means you have less than 50km range based on the style of driving at the time. So if you were takaing it easy at the point, you'd actually have a lot les than 50km range.
Mine is a 2.0 TS, and when driving normally I get between 650 and 750 ( depending how much town driving I do on that tank). When my right foot gets heavier, I get abbout 550 to 600 Km per tank.
On average I get 11 Km per litre. On my 155 the best I ever got was 11.3 Km/litre.
Same motor, newer ECU...................go figure
