Electrical niggles

I wonder if anyone can help? I brought a 156 1.6 veloce on an 02 plate this week and I've noticed a problem with the info centre on journeys over about 10 miles or so. Basically the display fades until I can't see it at all. If I stop the car for about 20 minutes and then start it again it comes back on brightly... Also I just fitted a Sony head unit and connected the steering wheel buttons with a Connects 2 CTSAR001 interface. The problem is that now only the right hand buttons on the wheel work. I noticed when I'd got it all apart that the plug from the wheel has 4 wires (2 yellow, 1 pink and white and 1 grey and black) But the interface socket only has 3. Do I need to move or bridge any wires or have I been sold the wrong interface? Lastly (Phew) and this isn't electrical, sometimes when the engine gets warm it almost sounds like a flat 4 boxer engine below 3000 rpm. I just wondered if it was something to do with the crank configuration compared to my last car which was Japanese. Anyway, any help would be gratefully received.

In regards to the infocenter, after 9 years I think is ready to retire. You can get one on ebay and it's very easy to fit.
