156 Sillyspeed wont select second.

I have only owned my 156 selespeed for about 5 weeks and after defending alfa's reliability in work i now have a problem.....

When in city mode, i can accelerate away in 1st, the car then goes into neutral and i wont select second. When in manual it skips second after about 3 seconds and goes to 3rd. I can go down to second and it drives fine but not up. When parked i can select 1st and when i try to select second i hear a couple of clicks and back into neutral. Also reverse took me 3 attempts to get it to engage before, but once it was in it was fine.

There are no funny noises and no loss in power or anything like that and the car still drives fine except for that.

Any ideas? i dont have access to any diagnostic software so may well just have to send it off to alfatune next week for gus to sort.

- clean the big connector for the wiring loom with some contact cleaner
- wiggle the relays in front of the battery
- clean the connections for all the sensors and electrovalves on the actuator
- swap the fuses
- check selespeed oil level

That's as far as you get without some diagnostic. As long as the actuator is not leaking oil, it's probably just a trifle.

So after leaving it overnight i just went out and started her up, took her for a drive and everything seems fine. Im still gonna take her to get recalibrated in a week or two and get it serviced, hopefully it will be alright for the time being.

as Astrix says, cleanliness of the connectors cannot be overstated, make sure your garage does each one properly and it should be fine.
