Half a week of down time to sort a few issues on the GT, would appreciate a little help or guidance if possible, cheers!
: The front end has had a re-spray prior to me collecting the car. Very good job, nice match etc. But as the front bumper had been off, I don't think the NS headlight has been seated properly. There is a slight gap, 3-5mm, between the lower part of the light lense and the bumper, whereas the OS has no gap.
To re-seat this do I need to totally remove the bumper again? I can't see any issue with the lights working at night, all seems balanced to my eye. But looking at the car head on it is noticeable to me.
Chirping Front Suspension
: The roads to and from work across Brum are awful. So I get the "chirp" rather a lot. I have previously read that the upper arm bushes can be greased to possibly cure this. Unless they are shot, in which case new ones are needed.
I have some general grease I can use, is this appropriate? If so, is it a matter of taking the arm off altogether, or remove the wheel, clean and grease in situ?
Wash, wax and stone chip
: I've already picked up a massive double chip (and I don't mean choc chip) on the newly sprayed bonnet. I have bought a kit for this job, colour matched with lacquer and wet/dry etc.. So after a good wash, dry and wax I will do this. Will hopefully remember to do some before/after shots as well.
Find and eradicate rattles
: I know I may be onto a losing effort here, but this is the first car in many years that has a parcel shelf and a hatch. I need to locate the source of the annoying yet tiny rattles and pack them out. Probably some velcro and rubber will help this.
Other than these minor issues, I am still utterly loving the GT Q2 experience. The surge in 3rd gear is fantastic, not that far off the surge I used to get in my Saab 9-5 Aero, and that thing was QUICK!
The seats are brilliant, and as I am in the process of seeing a chiropractor for a bad upper back/neck problem, the only time I am truly comfortable is in the GT, hugs and fits perfectly.
I have lubricated the door handles, bonnet mechanism and lock and the clutch pedal, so hopefully keeping away some of the other possible issues.
Fingers crossed. Cheers all, as ever, a great forum.
NB: I can't believe how much traffic this forum has compared to the 159/Brera one! Phew its hot in here.....
