Help 156 facelift headlamp problem

I've just been fiddling about trying to change the offside headlamp dipped bulb which had gone. It now looks as though I may have a more expensive problem to fix. Things were going fine until I tried to fit the new bulb and the springy holder thing fell into the lamp unit. I thought I would remove the headlamp and tip it out and refit the bulb with the lamp unit off the car.
When I started undoing the nut that holds the top edge of the lamp unit onto the front cross member, the sodding thing sheared off! Now I have a loose headlamp with no bulb and a spring holder floating about in it.
Does anyone know how I might repair this without having to replace the cross member? I knew Alfas would cost a little more to repair, but I would like to avoid 100's just to replace a blown headlight bulb!!!
