Re: Bmw 147
BMW have really lost their way. Gone are the days of intelligent and intuitive design. They think if it looks good on a 3D CAD screen it will look good in real life. Why do modern car designers have to try and make all the models look the same?
The Z4 (and possibly the 6 series) is the only new look Beemer that looks acceptable - the rest are simply awful. This is because they are trying to force the new design concept into shapes that don't work in real life.
The reason for the failure?...
Look at Alfa Romeo - The only design constant is the badge/logo. The 156 doesn't look like a big 147. The GT doesn't look like the GTV. The opposite is true with all other manufacturers - the Astra/Vectra or Merc E/C/S or the Fiesta/Focus/Mondeo or Jag X/S thay all look like the other model but bigger/smaller. People donít want that Ė If I am going to spend £30000+ on a car I donít want it to look like a larger version of a £10000 smaller model. I want it to be unique. And thetís where Alfa Romeo wins every time.
I am at work now, looking out of the window at my Rosso 147 with Supersports, which I bought new almost 3 years ago to the day. Even now I can't take my eyes off it. How many other modern marque owners can honestly say that?
Forza Alfa Romeo!
