156 Sportwagon Rear Windscreen Wiper problem
I have a very annoying problem with my rear windscreen wiper.
I noticed it was only making contact with the bottom of the screen when wiping. On closer inspection, found that the spring was worn/loose, and therefore didn't have enough tension to keep a good contact with the screen.
I bought another one. Off ebay as it happens, but on comparing, is identical to the one on the car. The tension was back, but it's still missing the windscreen at the top.
If I loosen it, so I can rotate it manually, the problem is evident. The blade stays straight, no matter what the screen shape underneath it is. The plastic blade refuses to compress because of the sideways force placed on it. It moves freely enough in my hand, but when it's being dragged along the screen, refuses to compress inside itself.
I made up a new wiper blade out of the blade from the old one on the new arm, but still the same thing, and vice versa. I even went as far as putting a rubber band around the arm to pull the center of the blade in, but this pushed the problem too far the other way.
This is quite hard to explain, but hopefully another SW owner will know exactly what I mean.
My question is, I guess, has anyone found a good performing aftermarket model, as the official one/direct copies appear to have a bit of a design flaw!
Thanks in advance!
