Why is it not advisable to connect to Airbag line (Pin 3) and the other lines without a switch?
I have one of Rarebears cables and have connected to Engine, Airbag and ABS ECUs one after the other and back again and have never had a problem. (There is NO switch)
There is a lot of contradictory info about. Some of it very misleading. Most of it ****e.
Steve , you are absolutely right ! the software (in my case Alfadiag) does the switching,
it is impossible to connect the engine ECU and the Airbag crash sensor or the ABS ECU at the same instant.
if you want to use the cable for other makes, like VW or Audi, I do not recommend that, the VAG software is different from Alfadiag.
I have tested the cable on Examiner (my brother works in an Alfa workshop) and Examiner
operates in the same way as Alfadiag, you have to select which ECU you want to connect with one at a time.
But as always , there are so many BS stories around, that people start to believe it in the end (its like politics... no new taxes ! ).
I cannot vouch for FES, but I always think that free stuff has a hidden price to be paid !
