After 5-6 miles at about 50-60 mph I get a dry, metallic screeching/whistling noise from, I think, the front n/s wheel. It isn't a wheel bearing type noise, nor a ticking-type noise either. It isn't speed sensitive, but as I travel further the speed range increases, so that after quite few miles it is at almost all speeds.
If I apply even a very slight steering load one way it disappears, but not the other way, and also disappears if I touch the brake. I can't see anything obvious, and I appear to have plenty of pad life remaining.
I seem to remember with a previous car (Metro - don't ask), this was an early symptom of pad wear, the next symptom being radio interference before the pad wear warning light later came on?
Anyone have an idea what this is/how to cure it?
It's a 36000m 156 btw
Thanks in advance...........
