Righty, a couple of days ago my 7 year old 147 developed a metallic squealing noise. Im 99% sure it has/is coming from the break's, as when I use the brakes the noise goes away.
Took the car to Car Servicing, Repairs & MOT tests in Macclesfield – Cottage Street Motors
in Macc, who seem to have good reviews who looked into the problem and have replaced the front discs and pads. On the drive to work today, the noise is still there, and im pretty sure it is coming from the rear of the car, which suggests the rear brakes are the issue.
Has anyone else had this problem, if so what did you end up doing/replacing?
Plus, do any of you out there think it would be reasonable of me to expect the above garage to do any work for free or as a gesture of goodwill since the original problem has not been solved? Or should I just accept I own a 7 year old car and it should be expected that age has cought up and things need replacing?
If so, it'll be a trip to shp4parts for a new set of rear discs, and maybe a call on AO for a person with a spanner to help me change them!
As far as I am aware the rear discs are stil the original set (pads have been changed).
