Help Remote keyfob reprogramming 147

I have a 147 2002, during the cold weather my car has stopped responding to my key fobs. The alarm or the doors will not open from the fob, but I can use the key to open the doors and start the engine. I have checked the battery and it appears fine, is it possible to DIY reprogramming the key fobs myself and if so how?
Any ideas that don't cost too much are appreciated!

Try a thread search as this question is asked. Alot.

You cannot program the keys. It's the car that need programming.

a very dirty car

A simple start is that if both remotes stopped working at the same time it is a car fault, if they stopped at different times then the key itself may need repairing.

If both alarm and CL stopped at the same time then the receiver looks like a candidate for the problem.

If you suspect the car then I think the receiver in the 147 is on the front bulkhead. Grab a manual from somewhere (or maybe someone can tell you what to look for) and check it is still connected up ok. By that I mean disconnect, clean and reconnect where you can.

Your dealer can make this easier for you -at a cost of course. They can tell you if the car is registering a signal from a remote. I don't know if the various non-dealer programs that are about can do that too?

If it all gets to much then as long as the central locking still works plenty of "road radio" type companies can give you fobs with buttons that will do remote locking for 60-100
