fitting a 146 engine on a 156

Could anyone tell me whether the 146 ts engine (steel topcover one) and the 156 ts engine (plastic topcover) are swappable?? I know the inlet manifold on the 156 is different, but would it be possible to stick the 156 manifold and all the sensors straight onto a 146 ts engine??? thanks

If you have not changed one before be aware of many small differences which are very time consuming if you dont change them from the start. The main change is the camshaft sensor and matching camwheel, other parts include the front alloy water pipe beside the exhaust manifold and even the thermostat pipework.I always change the whole lot from one engine to another so there is no last minute swearing.
