What to do now?

I love my 156. Driving it just makes me smile. But it'll have to go.

Cos I just can't trust anyone to service or repair it. Living in the Midlands, I used to use Alfa Services in Northampton until they just stiffed me. My clutch went and I put it in to them, knowing it was quite a big job. They said they'd be able to replace it within a couple of days. Twenty-six (yes, 26!) days later I finally got it back, but only after repeatedly threatening legal action. They gave me a series of excuses, most of which were lies (e.g. 'we have no mechanics, they're all off sick'. How come you managed to send a mechanic out to another customer's home then? 'Oh, well ... um ... well ... err ... that wasn't one of our regular mechanics'!), failed to do some of the work (despite being given typed instructions), tried to get me to pay for repairs and servicing I hadn't asked for and managed to be uncontactable almost all the time.

Given what everyone says about Alfa dealers and given that the nearest independent Alfa specialist acts like this, what am I to do? If you know of a good garage in the midlands I'd love to hear about it. Help me avoid dumping such a great car!

Head a little south to Jamie Porter in Royston? A more consciencious, knowledgeable chap you will not find. You normally get an 'interesting' courtesy car, too.
