Quiz for today!
Anyone like to hazard a guess as to what might be the problem here?
I was driving home today, turned right into my road and there was a large bang from somewhere under the front of the car. It still just about drove so i got to the side of the road for a look under the bonnet. Couldn't see anything wrong and there was nothing underneath that i could see either. The gear stick feels odd and it won't go into first gear. As you move the lever about there is a clunking noise coming from behind the bulkhead. The engine still ticks over nicely and quietly (athough its noisy when you first start it) and its got enough oil. I got it into second and pulled away, it will drive at less than walking pace but its mostly making a grinding clanking banging noise (!) which appears to be worse if you steer left or right.
The clutch was changed in July of 2010 and I would think I've only done a couple of thousand miles since then. No idea if its anything to do with that or not.
Its a 2002 1.6TS by the way.
